Awards presented to the OSGB


A huge thank you to the RHS for a splendid annual awards lunch in the beautifully decorated Lindley Hall on Thursday 26th February. The OSGB received two of the RHS Annual Awards for its Gold-medal display, which was sponsored by the Sultanate of Oman Ministry of Tourism, at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2014.

The awards were accepted on the society's behalf by the display's designers Val Micklewright, Andre Roux and Sam Hurley who are already working on this year's exhibit entitled British native orchids and their tropical relations.

The society received two awards for its Chelsea 2014 display.  The Eric Young Orchid Trophy is awarded for the most meritorious group of orchids staged at any RHS show and the Holford Medal is awarded for the best exhibit staged by an amateur group at an RHS show.

Free evening with Wessex Orchid Society


OSGB members are invited to a free evening with Wessex Orchid Society on Tuesday 14th April 2015. The evening's guest speaker will be Dr Martin Motes from Florida, one of the foremost growers of vandaceous orchids, talking on Temperature tolerant, low light vandas.

Two RHS awards for OSGB's Chelsea 2014 exhibit

The society has been awarded not one, but two awards by the RHS for its display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2014.

The OSGB received the Eric Young Orchid Trophy for the most meritorious group of orchids staged at any RHS show in 2014 and the Holford Medal for the best exhibit of plants staged during the year by an amateur group.

We shall be exhibiting again at Chelsea this year and will highlight our beautiful British native orchids amongst their exotic relations. Sponsored by Albourne Partners, an independent advisory firm headquartered in the UK, we will be located at stand GPE/11 in the Great Pavilion.

Coach to Spring Show at RHS Garden Wisley


The OSGB is organising a coach to transport members and their guests from central London to its Spring Show in the Glasshouse Gallery at RHS Garden Wisley on Saturday 21st March.

The coach will pick up at 10:00 from the RHS Lawrence Hall in Greycoat Street, SW1 and also from Raynes Park overground station en route to Wisley. It will depart from Wisley at 16:00 after the show returning to Greycoat Street via Raynes Park.

The cost of the return journey is £10.00 per person which is includes entry to Wisley and the OSGB show. Places must be booked in advance as soon as possible and will be on a 'first come, first served' basis.
